Looking Back

Looking Back

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

to look ahead

"

Though I've been here awhile

I know it won't last

These days pass quickly

and much too fast

The past and my memory

are about all I've got

Many things that I enjoyed

were not considered so hot

To have been a part

of the only civilization we know

Says I have been very fortunate

to have enjoyed the show

Its so easy to complain

as the critics like to do

Only to waste precious moments

when life has so few

Treasure them if you can

you too won't be here long

Write something worthwhile

and let that be your song

You are the only judge

who matters anyhow

What someone else likes

is only what they will allow

If you can please yourself

by what you try to do

You have joined the best

and there are very few

Don't look back

that time won't come again

What you enjoy each day

is the only way to win
