Lifetime

Lifetime

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

is our only time

"

More than a hundred examples
are used describing time
Quietly enjoying its passing
is a period supremely sublime

Rushing everywhere to fill it
causes disturbing tension
To avoid damage to your sanity
let calmness become your intention

Time's real value is in its wise use
as winners already have found
Needing to hurry is a poor excuse
behavior not very sound

Taking time before an act is begun
to review what we hope to do
Will be seen as an advantage
by making it sound more true

What we do during any one time
will carry over to the next
Good work done during prime time
will gain us more respect

A careless act during down time
can mortgage our future years
What happens in those coming days
will exacerbate our fears

This is now a good time
to spend some moments in thought
Our future hours will be more pleasant
giving us the peace that we sought

Good thoughts at the right time
is the best that we can do
It is up to us and our choices
to make our dreams come true
