Worth

Worth

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

that has value

"
money itself has no worth
its value depends on its use
too much of the excess cash
will be the road to abuse

more than you know how to use
buys favors that lead to its loss
exchanged for more than you need
it becomes your albatross

acquiring money one didn't earn
may be the reason to invest
many of the advisers who will help
will take the most and leave you the rest

the best way to avoid any loss
is to never have money you don't use
it will buy all that you need
and it won't be there to abuse

the process of earning the gelt
will make any worker stronger
they will find the real value of worth
and their life will last much longer

find work that you can enjoy
it will be far easier to do
the effort will bring the respect
that is really the worth for you

an easy road may seem like the best
to gamblers who don't like to work
the chance they will ever get rich
is the kind of life for a jerk

hard working families have found
occupations they learned how to do
giving them satisfaction and success
with the respect we all enjoy too
