Change

Change

A Poem by Sam Freeland

Change may be unwelcome

a foe you want to beat

How you handle this adversary

will mean win or retreat

By accepting the challenge

it is the best way to win

Believing you are capable

will give the power to begin

Change will suddenly appear

from more than one direction

Be ready for the conflict

and experience less rejection

Accepting the new changes

believing you can adapt

You become much stronger

in the ways that you act

Those openly opposed to change

were hurt as you have known

Not being able to handle it

they now are left alone

If weakness is what you seek

it is likely what you will get

There will surely be moments

filled with unhappy regret

Very foolish to recommend

any behavior like this

The weak cannot look forward

to strength they will miss

Paths have here been described
both good plans and bad
One hopes you understand
the way to be more glad than sad

This is so great! You've explained change exactly as I see it, how so many people can't adapt to it and end up getting hurt or left behind in the process. The rhymes are great and don't sound forced at all. I love it!
