A Solitary Pursuit

A Solitary Pursuit

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

mentally and physically superior

"
A field of endeavor
you are very much alone
What the mind and body does
will have to set the tone

The body will behave
as it was trained to do
But it never escapes
 being primarily you

Only a few will ever manage
to excel in what they do
That's what makes it so special
and certainly well paid too

The crowds will love you
and see you as mature
They follow you everywhere
quietly and for sure

The moves you make
are very easy to watch
Just don't lose your focus
and put you hand on your crotch

Leave that to the singers
who want to stimulate the crowd
A following too boisterous
and exceptionally loud

You will be judged
in every move you make
There is nothing you can do
that will ever be fake

Now go out there
and try to measure up
Some day you may be famous
when you kiss the cup

My favorite people are the one's who tell us. Find a job you love or don't do it. I have a problem. I like to eat and take care of family. I like the logic of your poem. Need to do our best and live a good life. In the end. The measure of a person is the good or bad done in a life. I like the ending to this outstanding poem.
