Fighting the darkness

As my poems explain, I have depression. Sometimes I push it so far away that I forget it's there... so when it fights back I have to remember the light

My world is in chaos
My life is a mess
My control is in tatters
Surrounded by stress.
I take a deep breath
I scrunch up my eyes
I listen intently
And hear only lies.
The blackness is coming
The darkness returns
The light that was there
Will soon only burn.
Focus on living
Focus on dreams
Focus on love
Recall what it means.
I'll get through the pain
I'll push away tears
I'll find my way through
My depression and fears.
There's people to fight for
There's reasons to live
There's people who need me
I have more to give.
