Closer

Sometimes, to be closer to you,

I stop what I am doing,

And I hold myself up so I don't cry,

And I think hard about you,

And i try to convince myself'

That you can feel me too.

I try to believe that you stop right when I stop,

And you have to also hold yourself steady,

Because everything that we ever shared,

We can't help but remember,

And right then and there,

I tell myself that we are together again.

this seems to me to speak of a relationship that ended - that wasn't meant to be. not for lack of love; lack of trying - just simply wasn't in the cards. two people who shared a love - but could not share a life. the heartache of the remembering and the knowledge that you will always love them, even if you are not together.
