The Portal to Fantasy

The portal to fantasy, the imagination and where everything is possible. I've found it! But alas, I'm contained so I can only look at it

When I stand on the beach,
I glance out onto the ocean horizon,
I deep in my heart know the portal to fantasy is just beyond that,
Just beyond the line of sight,
A place you can't see from land,
Just sail past the horizon,
And you'll enter fantasy,

If I took a boat and sailed there,
I know I'd find pirates,
Mermaids would wave,
There would be a treasure island,
And adventures waiting for me,

A kidnapper would try to take me,
With his ship of crew,
And a battle between my hero and them would break out,
My hero would be a handsome prince,
And seek my hand in marriage,
But alas, I'd turn him down,

I'd run away with gypsies,
Just to give it a try,
And quest on my own,
An adventure is what I want!
I'd sword fight with pirates,
And sail by myself,
The sea monsters would try to sink,
The vessel I was in,

But alas, I cannot fulfill my destiny,
I can't achieve my quest,
As I stand here staring into the ocean,
My portal to fantasy,
And sometimes if I squint hard enough,
I can see my ship fighting that sea monster

Well as long as you are writing like this you don't seem contained at all. This was a wonderful eyeful of adventure and longing. A trip I would like to go on as well. Beautifully written and expressed.

Thank you. I often daydream staring out into the ocean and my friend said 'why do you keep staring out there? I don't see anything!' and thus gave me inspiration to write this. I told her I saw the portal to fantasy and she just rolled her eyes jokingly. Ah how I wish i could go there...

I get lost like that as well....it is the best really, and I am always surprised when other people don't know what I'm talking about. Oh well, we can keep something for ourselves..lol.

and sometimes it can be relaxing to mesmerize oneself in a fantasy world wherein you feel the happiness and adventure that can be lacking in reality
