For the Poet Who Shines

For the Poet Who Shines

A Poem by Curly Grace

You arrived the way quiet things do- not with thunder, but with a pulse I felt before I named it.

Your lines drifted toward me like tide-carried glass, softened by storms I never saw but somehow recognized.

There is a shine in you that doesn’t brag, a glow born from what you’ve survived- the kind that only appears after saltwater and long nights and choosing to rise anyway.

I read you, and something in me leans closer, as if your voice remembers a place I’ve never been but still belong to.

If you ever wonder whether your words matter= know this: they reached me. They stayed. And they keep lighting small lanterns in the quiet parts of my day.

I think this is an interesting concept when it comes to love and romance. So many times do we see in movies, read in books, listen in songs , and imagine love presenting its self in a loud theatrical fashion. When the more grounded reality is it comes subtly and almost unexpected. Solid poem!

I just read and reviewed a poetry book that has done this to me. "Before I Lie" by Dralandra Larkins.
I am still feeling the inspiration she gave to me with her words. I shall hold on to those lanterns.

Thank You, Jacob. I will look into this book.
Ah, but that we all could have this sort of effect on our readers.

This one sits in a rocking chair behind my eyes... comfortably.
