I Told You So

I Told You So

A Poem by Sarahthirk
"

All of my friendships would end up crashing and burning. So when I was friends with someone, I told her my fears of it ending, and she thought it wouldnt happen. But it did

"
I Told You So

Verse:
Running through the fields and the meadows
Your gaze was locked on my eyes
I never wanted the sun to turn to snow
But I know things will change in time

Pre-Chorus:
I told you, maybe one day, this sweet love could see its bitter end
You laughed it off, pulled me in and thought my worry were pretend

Chorus:
I told you everything we built up was gonna crumble someday
Our love would be a dark, sullen shadow reminding us of our mistakes
Why'd you think this hurricane warning was a petty little joke?
I reminded you about the regular fire, but you ignored the smoke
The spark burst into deadly flames
Engulfed us both in blaming games
There's just one thing so say before I go
I told you so

Verse:
Now you stare into the empty space
That was once occupied with our love
It vanished right in front of our eyes without a trace
Hope it made its way to the bright heavens above

Pre-Chorus:
I'm not scarred, and I'm not scared, a little birdy gave me a hint
It was the bird of my past, it never flies away, but it will always clue me in

Chorus:
I told you everything we built up was gonna crumble someday
Our love would be a dark, sullen shadow reminding us of our mistakes
Why'd you think this hurricane warning was a petty little joke?
I reminded you about the recurring fire, but you ignored the smoke
The spark burst into deadly flames
Engulfed us both in blaming games
There's just one thing so say before I go
I told you so

Bridge:
Baby, a roller coaster always has its grand finale
Its big free-fall
Now we're just strangers wandering in a dark, damp alley
My life is a free for all
You should know I haven't cried a single tear
Because I knew our grand finale was drawing near

There's just one thing so say before I go
Oh there's just one thing to say before I go
I told you so
Oh I told you so
