Perhaps It Was The Clams

Perhaps It Was The Clams

A Poem by ScaredSilent

Perhaps It Was

Perhaps it was the clams
That whispered to the sea
Perhaps it was the clams
That whispered things to me

Perhaps it was the sea
That cried to me in dreams
Perhaps it was the sea
That ripped me from the seams

Perhaps it was the dreams
That gave flight to my desires
Perhaps it was the dreams
That put out all my fires

Perhaps it was my desires
That scared my mother away
Perhaps it was my desires
That brought me here this day

Perhaps it was my mother
That cut the vein of love
Perhaps it was my mother
That killed the gentle dove

Perhaps it was love
That she denied me
Perhaps it was love
That thing she stole from me
