ReactionA Poem by wNot my story, but one I have been able to witness and tell.
Wet salt is dribbling down my lips
and onto my chin, covered in stubble, sliding its way to the increasing wet spot on my green Kermit the Frog shirt. Liquid copper is filling my mouth as my nicotine stained, decaying teeth are biting down on my unusually long tongue and I wonder if I should swallow it or let it linger with the shed tears. I am rocking back and forth in an uncomfortable black chair, my eyes fluttering and my hands gripping and pulling tufts of hair. She is standing over me, saliva at the corners, the rest of her mouth a tight thin line. Then those lips part and I try to listen when my best friend's wife tells me that she is having my baby. © 2012 wFeatured Review
