Struggle

Just another poem I made

I once had this dream
Where I was in a dark tunnel
All I could see was what the light above me showed

I didn't dare to step out my little island of light
But then it went out and in front of me another one went on
When I ran towards it, it went out and moved further up ahead
I needed to go as fast as I could to stay in the light

I felt as if it was toying with me as it kept moving faster
If I stopped, the darkness would swallow me up
If I slowed, I'd never make it back

My muscles started to ache, burning for a pause
A sharp pain in my side told me I had to quit
My breath was almost gone, I couldn't keep up any longer

Darkness gained, light faded
My speed slowing as I tired, pushing myself to move faster
I held my arms forward trying to grab hold of anything
But as blackness consumed me it was all for naught

Then I awoke from my slumber
I sighed of relieve, but then I wondered
Was it just a dream, or the way I felt about life?
