Goodbye

I couldn't leave

The word 'goodbye'
I know what it means
I've said it many times before
Only to return soon with a 'hello'

To walk away
I know how that feels
I've tried to move on
Only to run back to say 'hello'

Making choices
I know the dilemma
I've done what's right though
Only to apologise after and cry 'hello'

The word 'goodbye'
I know what it means
To walk away
I know how that feels
The day 'you' made that choice.

goodbyes are so painful...i feel that in this poem...the frustration and sadness...but then there are the hellos on the other end...reminds me of the Beatles..."you say goodbye, and i say hello, hello hello"

I think most poets write at least one goodbye poem. Some off us have multiples. That feeling when you are left behind I'd a hollow one.

Sorry that this is a now thing. It sucks. I dislike goodbyes so much that my friend use "Goodbye for now" or a version of "see you later" with me.
However, breakups spurn some very good poetry. It's very therapeutic, and you get to meet great people.
