That’s What Friends Are For
By
Steven “Screechawk k’Shaya” Marshall

I get lost and you find me,
”That’s what friends are for.”
I fall and you pick me up,
”That’s what friends are for.”
I get a cut and you bandage it up,
”That’s what friends are for.”
I don’t know where to turn and you point the way,
”That’s what friends are for.”

Your lover breaks up with you, crushing your world.
I find you, pick you up, bandage the wounds, and point the way.
You want to repay me for all I’ve done and I say,
”Hey, that’s what friends are for.”
