Til It’s Gone

By
Steven “Screechawk k’Shaya” Marshall

The man in a wheelchair
Reaches for his family pics on the top
But can't reach because he lost his legs
You don't know what you got til it's gone

The woman with prosthetic arms
Wants to visit family out of town
But can't because she can't drive with no arms
You don't know what you got til it's gone

The boy with no parents
Wants to buy some bread so he can eat
But can't because he has no one to pay for it
You don't know what you got til it's gone

The little girl with nothing to her name
Wants to be able to sleep one night without getting wet
But can't because she has no home to shelter her from the storm

The people who have what they need
Want more each new day
But can't see the blessing of all they have
You don't know what you got til it's gone
