Two Hundred and Sixty-FiveA Poem by NicoleYou don't know what people are going through. Please. It's never "just one comment." It's "just one more."One, two, three, four...
Words drop out upon the floor.
“Let’s play a joke, it will be fun.”
Twenty-nine and thirty-one...
You locked the target for your jest.
Fifty-one, to fifty-six...
“It’s all in fun; there’s no harm meant.”
Ninety-seven, and one cent...
You walked away without a thought,
One-ninety-nine, two hundred wrought...
Did you ever stop and think,
She was already upon the brink?
That her wrists were bleeding as she walked by?
She was counting scars;
“Two-sixty-five...” © 2012 Nicole |
