Alcohol Destroys

Alcohol Destroys

A Poem by Samantha Lay
"

This is something dear to me when I had to see someone I love fall apart because of Alcohol.

"

You believe you can drink away the pain,

The stress will disappear with every sip

It takes you away from reality just like you wish

But when you look beyond the surface and open up your eyes

You find that alcohol only gives you lies

People wish you would stop; just put the bottle down.

Instead you keep on pouring, until an empty bottle is found

Drifting farther from reality, we watch and cry in pain

Your life begins to shatter as dreams fade away

Family crumbles with every little sip

As time becomes irrelevant in this land of alcoholics,

Precious moments are taken, ones never to gain back

Because you were too busy drinking and giving yourself a pat on the back

So next time you want to complain and act like a crazy buffoon

Just think about all the lies you've told yourself

And all the harm you've done but no good.

I hope the bottle was well worth it

Because the tears you've caused and hearts you've hurt

Can never be replaced!
