A Poem by sea lily

we are here
we are the youth.
wearing the mantle of our depression
like it's the latest fashion.
like if we wanted to
we could change
and be as happy as you.
i can't speak
with you watching me.
so i choked for air
and i coaxed my dry mouth
with the tobacco leaf
he loves me
and my total purity,
even when i'm doing shots
like maybe
i'll leave here with anybody.
so i did.
fell on the pavement in a tangle of limbs.
and tomorrow,
i'll bundle up his possessions
with a black hairband
write him a note
saying one day,
i'll understand.
but for now
i've got pockets full of shot glasses
and a smile he could save.
but i'm still unsure
how a girl like me
(a girl who is free)
is supposed to behave.
