The value of a kurta

The value of a kurta

A man in kurta signs with flair
A man in suit files with care
A man in mud builds all they need,
Yet earns the least, his yearns unseen

For a kurta can earn you money and fame
Education and curroption can get you respect and name
Yet hardwork and labour can get you only blames

For sweat doesn't leaves no golden signatures, just sweaty stains

Strikes home from many angles. This brings back memories of my first kurta, fashioned in India and worn in Kathmandu. And between nations that share this garment I have lived and breathed this poem even for a fleeting moment. Thanks for taking me back. 🕊️🙏🏻

You’ve got something real here a modern protest in poetic form. the kurta is more than just a garment; it's a symbol. It carries history, identity, and quiet resistance. It’s been worn by freedom fighters, poets, farmers, politicians, saints.
But in your poem, the kurta takes on a layered meaning not just cultural pride, but also social irony. You contrast the symbol of tradition and respect with the reality that those who labor those in the mud are often the most overlooked. That duality is powerful.

It’s not about tearing down the kurta it’s about asking:
Why does a kurta earn respect, while a sweat-soaked shirt earns invisibility?

That tension makes your poem thoughtful, not bitter. Honest, not disrespectful. And that’s what gives it strength.

the suit is a symbol loaded with polish and power.
Amazing work😊
