Life is like that

Life is like that

Based on a true whatsapp forward

Life is a train 🚂
You are the passenger
Love is the ticket 🎫
But heartbreak is the TTE 😢
If you sit on the wrong seat 😭
Even karma will slap you with fine

Water your dreams 🌱
But don't forget to charge your phone
Because even destiny uses Google Maps -

Never trust a mirror after 2AM 😳
Never fry pakoras in anger 😡🍳
And never fall in love during exam season

BE A LION 🦁
NOT A LEMON 🍋

🌹 "Good Morning dear soul. Jai Mata Di. 🚩☕🌞"
Forward to 9 people or your charger will stop working ,"⚠️

Sehaj, you know from my other reviews that I dig your stuff, but with this one, kiddo, I think you are "fighting above your weight" (google that). What I mean is that you are too young to be counseling "Never trust a mirror after 2AM" or "never fall in love during exam season." While you may be echoing truisms, they are the truisms of older, more experienced people (adults) -- they cannot (or at least should not) be YOUR feelings. At 14, these are things you should not know personally. Perhaps you are echoing things you have heard rather than know from experience. That doesn't make them wrong; I just find them incongruent with what should be the level of your experience. I told myself when I first reviewed your work that I must not let your age lead me to treat you as a child when you are clearly on an adult level -- in your writing ability. So I level with you. You're damn good at this writing game, but I would prefer that you write from what you know and experience directly, not through osmosis; that is what a poet does.

After a more fulsome examination of this piece, I realized that you included portions from a work that was forwarded to you. If the portions for which I excoriated you were among those, then I apologize. However, I still find them inappropriate for your piece, as a poem. I am old, young sir, and have certain ingrained feelings about what poetry should and should not be.

I think it's funny! And I like the emoticons. (I mean... emojis.) I agree w/ carl: those are some good lines. I used to have a friend who always sent text messages w/ emojis. I never understood why, but now it just seems humorful.

enjoyed this piece also - find the emojis a distraction -

think the lines below are especially good

But don't forget to charge your phone

Never trust a mirror after 2AM
And never fall in love during exam season
