Let's Say there's a King

Let's Say there's a King

A Poem by Rivaxorus
"

Since when have we cared about what goes on in your life?

"
We could spend hours talking to each other,
On how much we wished we could kill someone.
Our husband we just don't get along with anymore,
The sister we wish we never had,
A celebrity that is getting on our nerves.
So let's say for a moment that there was a king,
That said you could do whatever you wanted,
for one night.

Though it isn't like that would ever happen,
It is only a fantasy in a conversation you wish you were having.
Books, movies, the lot of the stories that we listen to,
Only to wish that our lives could be exactly the same.
To live that fantasy,
To be royal,
If only it was real.

So let's say there was a Queen,
that was you.
You were the one who killed your husband you didn't like,
and you got away with it.
You were the one who molested a child,
and felt better by the next day.
Only to realize,
The only reason you enjoyed it,
Is because you weren't on the other end.

Hypothetically, the conversation is turning into something more serious.
Two types of people,
One who would rather not know and back out,
And those who watch and wish they could do something about it.
It doesn't effect us, weather we wanted it to or not,
Do we wish for that kind of rush.
For one night,
Only to find out we've made a terrible mistake.

So let's say there's a King,
He gives you an offer.
You can do whatever you want,
But in the end.
What else is there?
Everything remains the same, everyone remains the same.
There is more than two sides to one story,
It is up to you to decide which end you're on.

Author's Note

Rivaxorus
I've had a pretty messed up week, full of people who think they can do whatever they want. And I'm left hopelessly wishing I had switched my place with the less fortunate. Only when I have my own problems to deal with, even though they aren't as high up as others, like murders, and rapes, they are still problems. And sometimes, we all run away from it.

A guiding and effective advice piece that is read well.

I think the last line would sound better as, it is up to you to decide which one you're in. The word "on" made it awkward. Just my thoughts!

There are some interesting perspectives and thoughts discussed in this poem. I can see by your Author's Note that you were inspired to write this in a sort of way that helps you work out what is going on in your own life these days. Well, each of us is tested in life, the gravity and difficulty ebbs and flows, some are tested with some of life's harshest trials early in life others, later, but regardless these are the things that make us who we are. Focus on who you want to be, and remember that time "passes" and we learn as we go. There are two sides to every story, some might argue there are even more, that is why it is important to step outside of yourself when confronted with a problem and see it from all sides and soon like a puzzle you will come to understand the 'whole picture' and then move on passed it. One line in the poem needs a bit of editing. "It doesn't effect us, weather we wanted it to or not," common mistake "effect" should be "affect" and "weather" should be "whether". Interesting read, keep it up. Hope you are feeling better soon.

This is an interesting concept - we all have dark "wishes" that we would never actually fulfill.
