The Shadow

...would you speak to the river?

You stood by the river to speak
And a shadow came to you
It stole your voice
So you could be at peace

Peace was a sin
Foretold to be a weakness
Silence, your only enemy
Fear, lay in silence

Shadow is your only friend
And you no longer have to hold
The feelings that you were so detained to
Sins, that you fully indulged in

What are sins
What are strengths
What is it you are looking for
Is it to live?

People look at you differently
It never changes
Life isn't worth living
But you do it anyway

Author's Note

A dark return, I'm sorry I've been gone. Teen drama is the worst in the world. But here, have a poem, and no I'm not suicidal I just thought the last two lines fitted well.
