The Lie Mirrors Tell Us

The Lie Mirrors Tell Us

A Poem by Evangeline Allyson Monroe
"

This is the second poem in a series about trials and tribulations. Enjoy! :)

"
"You're ugly,
You're stupid,
You cannot be loved.
You're fat,
You're gross,
You cannot be loved."
I cling to these lies.
I say I try,
Try to severe all the ties
I've had with every tear I cry,
But I cling to them.

"No model's waist is 23,
Take off those inches.
You're fat, can't you see?!?
There and there and there,"
Yells that critic from within.
I shed a few tears.
I say, "Eating is a sin."
And deny all my fears.

"Beautiful describes you.
And you better believe it's true!"
My friends always say,
But I cannot let myself think it true.
I count calories every day,
And struggle to see the next one through.

Author's Note

Evangeline Allyson Monroe
How are the emotions? Does it create any? I wanted it to. Like alone and then combined with the picture I chose? I just wanted this one to have the reader want to comfort the speaker. I used a whole new vernacular here, so is the writing okay, too?
