The Lie Mirrors Tell UsA Poem by Evangeline Allyson MonroeThis is the second poem in a series about trials and tribulations. Enjoy! :)
"You're ugly,
You're stupid, You cannot be loved. You're fat, You're gross, You cannot be loved." I cling to these lies. I say I try, Try to severe all the ties I've had with every tear I cry, But I cling to them. "No model's waist is 23, Take off those inches. You're fat, can't you see?!? There and there and there," Yells that critic from within. I shed a few tears. I say, "Eating is a sin." And deny all my fears. "Beautiful describes you. And you better believe it's true!" My friends always say, But I cannot let myself think it true. I count calories every day, And struggle to see the next one through. © 2012 Evangeline Allyson MonroeAuthor's Note
