Broke My Heart

Why did I do what I did? I broke my heart, loving you.

You were so cold,
Insulting,
Above me.
I hurt you back with
Lashes,
And words.
Yet somehow, now,
You love me,
You told me.
I didn't know what to do
With the new heart that now, somehow,
Belonged to me.
Yet there was someone else,
Who loved me
Who I loved.
You saw me at the most
Inopportune moment,
My time spent with them,
And not you.
You told me that
I was the one,
Who had shattered the heart,
That would now never belong to,
Anyone.
No one.
Now...
I just can't stop thinking,
About all those little things,
I love about you.
Now...
I realize,
In that breaking your heart,
I have broken my own in return.
I get it now,
That phrase people say...
"You never know what you got,
'Til it's gone."
I'll never have you.
I broke my heart.

Author's Note

Inspired by the manga series Boys Over Flowers(about the middle of the series). The series is way too long, so just enjoy my poem about it.
