BROTHER'S IN ARMS

BROTHER'S IN ARMS

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror

boys are raised in the shadow’s of men

leap to step in footsteps bold

repeat tales of the dead for the old

travel long past a fork in the road

not silver, not gold

a boys riches are the promise of home

the heart of warrior craddles a gun

mortality marches a one beat drum

one step closer to war

one step tramples fear

bravery parades boys to men

the vigil angels ready their tear

These images and this poem make for a combination of some really deep truths. I love the way it points to children succeeding their parents and trying to carry the mantle even when they are scared to.
It's a wonderful poem, well delivered, and received. I find it to be very meaningful and to the point. great work.

I believe the older generation would think less of warfare if they saw the WW2 movies of today. I wanted to be like my father. Boys do follow their father's footsteps. I liked the photo and the good words shared my friend.

War is the ruin of many lives, changing young boys into men, when they may not be ready for the slap of life across their face. Truly your words have shown what boys must learn to deal with when becoming men. ;-]

powerful. brought back memories of playing "guns" in the woods as a young boy. the camaraderie with the other children. then we grow up and realize the horrors of war. i remember when i joined the military and held a real gun in my hands for the first time and realized that i held the power in my hands to take someone's life - not so fun. if there were never any real bullets the world would be a lot better off ...

'boys are raised in the shadow’s of men'

we must be careful what we aspire to ...
