Self-Awareness

I saw myself in a mirror in profile and it was the first realization of what I'd become.

I saw the curve of nose and chest

Beautifully outlined,

And the silhouette of river neck

Lovely and defined.

 

I saw myself so suddenly

Caught in light of sun

And realized with quick heartbeat

That woman I'd become.

Beautiful! Anything that is a monument to the beauty of the woman body is delightful to me, and this would be one of those things. Even though it's short, it's packed full of imagery and feeling. The first stanza is my favorite. Those few lines describe a woman's body so well that it's stunning. Marvelous!

The photo looks like an anorexic women, but you're describing a goddess. I'm a little confused, but I'm going to interrupt this poem minus the photo.
After reading this a second time I realized it was rhyming which is wonderful to me. I can never made a poem rhyme, and good. You've done well missy.
