Sometimes the written perceptions of poems can tell us more about a departed person than what they said when they were with us. That's why poets can often be more accurate than reporters.

I think poetry has a sort of enlivened language to it, which just makes sense when reflecting on the living details of a thing, experience or person.

I know that language is just as alive whether we're there to pay witness to it or not and I find that terribly unnerving.
