The Bubble Bath

The Bubble Bath

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Iridescence

turquoise

lavendar

celadon

Sparkle

in pools

eddies

of incestuous

Babble.

Multiplying

piling high

as the tepid water

makes minute waves

giving rise-

To their depth.

As a creek

muddles

through a landscape

they pop

sway-

And fade away.

Her loins

come to rest

within its warmth.

The grime

of her daily grind

drifts-

slowly

softly

Beneath her.

Nice playing with the images of the scent and tactile sensation of the bubble bath... feelings its way around the world-weary body with its soft caresses and stimulus... beneath her... :-) ... Why was the babble 'incestuous'? I was intrigued by this... maybe the bubble are like family members (no pun intended on members !)...

Nice picture... mmm... a bath is such a place for sensuous dreams

What a tranquil mood this creates... This appeals to all my senses as I read it. Beautiful.

This poem has a sudden progression from the wonderfully dreamy images in the opening stanza that take us to a haven of delicate colours and scents to the final verse which jerks us back to the reality of the outside world.

This progression mirrors in a way the bath experience itself, which begins with the warm immersion in the womb-like security of the bathtub and always ends with a rude awakening when the cold of the air hits us with brutality as we emerge from the warmth.

I do like how you connect "grime" and "grind" both in rhyme and in associative meaning and the final stanza is my favourite.

Pretty wicked cool way to describe a bubble bath. "Incestuous babble"...what's that about? The merging of the bubbles? I thought this was great.

Excellent...and this opinion is from a shower-type...;) I'll have to give the bubble bath another try...!

Nice word choice....bright, cheery and visually real.

Thanks for the send...!

I never thought of her loins as grimy with the daily grind, nice. I'm not clear on the incestuous part, it makes the daily grind more sinister. There is a great sense of relief and sinking. The drifting babble bubble creek is sweet, in a "cool" way.
