Come Back For More

Come Back For More

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Peppermint treats

cucumber melon treats

the love of a sweet afternoon

amid the weeping willows

buds all around us say

welcome to this day in May

as those April showers

have past

placed us within the avalanche

of piston and stamen

bluebuds in bloom

all reminiscent of this perfect

afternoon

amongst the rivers reeds so green

away from all that obscene

we take to water as ducks do

forgetting even to shed our shoes

but jump in with fervous delight

and stay until the pale moonlight

crests upon yonder shore

then later, later

come back for more.
