Free Love Epitaph

Free Love Epitaph

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Remember when

we used to dance

out amongst the limbs

and flowers

without a care

we would tear

through this world

with powers

that not a one

could understand

yet they would wonder

at our beauty

in spiral curls

set about in furls

we made our place

amidst the gloom

and duty

set forth

while we made ours

one of happiness

and joy

others mired

in the mess

set forth

here in politics, war

global warming

instead we were enamored

with that old oak tree

simply sang a song

about it

how lucky are we

to have this

free love epitaph?

Ah, but love that is free never dies, only the innocence of our unfulfilled dreams and desires. This made me long for that simpler time. great write.

How lucky are any of us to have the love of this flower "child".
