Never Again

Never Again

A Poem by Piper Lynn
"

So many promises are made, but so very few are kept.

"

"Never again" The people said

To the child of the world.

"Never again will you be forgotten,

cast out, hurt, neglected.

Never again will they come

And take away your home.

Never again will men appear

With guns in their hands

And hate in their hearts

To destroy all you love."

The child shook her head and sighed

At the people all around.

"Can't you see? It's happening again!"

The helpless child cried,

"I have been forgotten,

Cast out, hurt, neglected.

They have come again

And taken away my home.

Now they return

With guns in their hands

And hate in their hearts,

Destroying all I love."

"Never again." The people said

To the dying child.

The destruction never ends, the promises to help by those in power are meaningless. A sad yet well written poem.
