Fruitful Suggestion

Italian Sonnet

"

When does a piece of fruit succumb to flies?

The air of such important truths gives gaze

to more colossal views, yet just a phrase;

And yet I ask, have I been fooled by lies?

 

.


I know no body hears these foolish cries,

yet rotten, lay sweet fruit out here for days

that human minds revolt ‘til it decays;

for fear it may consume us, we grow wise.

 

.


Now grounded people search for empty space,

to house our people’s fruit without a care;

and solemnly, our homes lose every grace

when empty rooms become our hiding place.

And somehow we convey it as unfair,

as if, such fruit’s a name, such fruit’s a face.
