An Inspirational and Uplifting Poem EVERY DAY from Simon J. Halliday!
Thought Crimes
The mind is fragile, guard it well A million thoughts you should not tell A billion more you really must So carefully filter love from lust
The world is ready, it's listening in To every triumph and every sin Take care the balance is for the good You have the chance, you know you could
A thought is something none can see Although your eyes may shine with glee Or perhaps may fade with thought's embrace Yet still these clues are just a trace
You have the choice of what to share A time for everything, please beware The nest of vipers spits and bites An indiscretion, so swift, brings fights
Then rise above and train your mind The way of peace is never blind The virtuous know so much, you see That only discipline sets them free
I hope you'll take these words and fly For life's a place where thoughts can't die A crime's not simply thought, mark well It's what you do that time will tell
This verse just dances around in the mind... you use the rhyme elements and tell the narrative... but I was left trying to be inspired with the write... seems too happy to me... like there's no wrong in the world... just my thought... but may be that's your whole point with this one...

The intention with this one is to remind people there's a difference between thoughts and actions, so that anyone struggling with dangerous thoughts or impulses realises they have a chance to decide not to act on them. Yet this poem is part of my current series intended to be inspiring and uplifting, so I wanted to maintain positivity in order to fit with this. It was a bit of a compromise this one, with the title 'Thought Crimes', I must admit!
This is good. As I looked at the rhyming and so the musicality at the ending of each line I thought it was messy and artificial. Because we, writers, sometimes find the same endings to create music in our pieces. But, this one between fear and intentions won over.

I've written stories since the age of seven and after completing a performing arts degree specialising in music (mainly piano) and drama, I went to live in a caravan and write more than ever. I set up.. more..
