The nightmare

The nightmare

A Poem by J. Lynn
"

written for my step-dad because he is slowly dieing and he means the world to me, and I had this dream and it affected me horribly. :/

"
The lights flashing through the window,
the tears running down my face,
I knew this was going to happen,
but did I figure this out to late?

As I ball up to tears,
I see him as he lies,
dead on the floor,
with no words for good-bye.

My mother stands there,
with disbelief,
her eyes filled with shock,
she walks over to be strong,
but when she comes,
her eyes fill up into tears.

this is the end,
of all my fears,
now he is gone,
and we are alone,
now we are here,
with no where to go.

So I stand up and clean,
and cook,
with every penny it took,
I work,
I help,
love does not come with wealth.

I laugh,
I cry,
and I hate to say good-bye,
but this fear makes me who I am today,
and will make me stronger tomorrow.
