This feels somewhat more straightforward in conveying a moment of wonder and admiration for nature and its mystery than some of your other poems. Feels like a portrait paused in space and time. I like these kinds of poems because I think they’re like photographs which have all this silent meaning and what they mean to us can shift, even how we see the scene can change as we change.
The moment speaks to me of small miracles and those things that have become so commonplace we take them for granted but without them life would be much more difficult or diminished in some way. This technology that has been with us for some time takes on greater significance when we lose access to it. And also the way that ‘nature provides’ comes into greater focus when we realize how most all we have—all that makes life possible—is provided by nature on terms we can only half understand. And in spite of our brilliance as a species, without our partnership with nature we would struggle mightily to survive. I love the murky mystery of nature as a force and in its beauty and I think you captured that quality really well in this poem. I enjoyed this a lot

I think it is too easy, when we glance at a flower, a rock, or a deep cold spring to forget how lucky we are as beings to have these things around us. I try not to draw too much water, but sometimes at the end of the summer when the edges of the pond are dried out, I see that perhaps I miscalculated.
~ wow... loved the magical appearance of the word "liquor" and every image that led to it... ~ it takes an infinite amount of skill and sensitivity to make a word sparkle this way... ~ i remember reading something where an expert on languages said that "to stress the stressed, we have to unstress the unstressed"... ~ in many of your writes, i notice this... though i'm only mentioning this today... and i love the message too... ~~ your phenomenal respect for natural resources is inspiring beyond measure... and i think your poetry is powerful because you truly live like a poet... ~ that's the kind of life i hope to build... in the very near future...
