wild

wild

A Poem by SkinlessFrank

a bear emerged

from the forest

and crossed the road

in front of us

we thought at

first it was a

shaggy Newfoundland dog

but then we saw

clearly

and soon two cubs

followed and we heard

the roar

almost a shout

to them

probably meaning

“hurry up”

the scene took our

breath away

not out of fear

or amazement

but instead out of

wonder

and love

of things so wild

~ ohhhhhhh... what a ravishing scene, maestro d. ... i sometimes think that "wonder and love" you speak of so beautifully helps us feel like we're a part of the natural world... if only for a moment... ~ my childhood in assam (in a remote military base) was one long, precious moment... with tea gardens, fireflies, wild elephants, hyenas, snakes, touch-me-knots et al... ~ once a mad elephant was running frantically on the runway and the commanding officer did not want to harm it... so all the officers and airmen on the base spent hours trying to drive it towards the forest which was on one periphery of the base... and all the families and kids... (there weren't too many) watched the scene from the barbed wire fence... ~ they succeeded and ultimately everyone went to bed in the wee hours... ~ that night when the hyenas laughed, it seemed like we were all laughing at the chaos together...
