The Light Of My Life.

For my wife, who I love so much.

I imagine her in a field of golden sunflowers, waiting to be seen and heard, but to everyone else, her voice feels distant and fading. 

"Everyone leaves me," she sobbed into her hands. 

"I won't," I say as I gently wipe away her tears with a sunflower before pulling her into a hug, letting her sob into my shoulder. 

Her body shakes, and her voice is quiet. I can feel how small shes trying to make herself, 

'I know it's hard right now. I know..." I whisper into her hair. 'You're here with me.' 

'Why don't you just leave me...?'  Her voice breaks ever so slightly, and she didn't look up, like she was scared I would run away.

'Because you're my best friend and I love you with all that I am.' I gently tip her face up by the chin, making her gossy eyes look into mine.

She laughed, though there was no humour behind it. 'You don't have to. Everyone makes empty promises and then leaves me.'

'Let me be the one who proves you wrong, even when things are hard, even if they are ugly. Even when you think you're not worth love. I'll still be there.'

Her eyes fill with tears again, she quickly looked back down, hiding her face.

'What if I mess everything up!? What if I push you away like I push everyone else away!?' 

I smile, just a little. 'I'll keep coming back, over and over, until you believe that I'll always be here for you.'

'You promise..?' Her eyes shift, scared, sad. But, there is now something else, a tiny crack in a wall she spent years building.

'Promise.' I take her hand in mine. 'As long as I'm here, you'll never be alone.'

Then once again, I pull her into a tight hug. 

'Thank you, Jayden.'

'Anything for you, Alice.'

You will!! It took me about 2ish to 3ish years to finally confess to her! Most boys or I guess woman to are sometimes just scared to let themselves feel or ask someone out! But, you'll find someone someday!
