Fading

As we lock away our secrets and bury down our scars,

We lick our wounds and sing to tunes,

Like nothing was ever wrong.

We smile our brightest to hide the tears and we laugh to ignore the pain,

We slowly fade into the mask we put on every day,

And eventually pretend to forget our faces were ever so long.
