Distant blessings

Distant blessings

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Can distance truly be a blessing?
Is the question
I threw at the wise old man

He paused, collecting a nugget of gold -
Can closeness truly be a curse?
He countered

And walked away.

I was not sure whether
I found my answer
But my heart told me later
I'll find it somewhere
In-between.

Distance may not always be a blessing, closeness may not always be a curse, it all depends on you, your wants and your needs but how'll you know this? by paying attention, listening to and trusting your heart. I like this piece, keep writing.

I think it all comes down to the individual, how dysfunctional your family is. I've lived years without my family and friends here on the west coast, and my heart still has a gravitational pull. Perhaps the time to come to such a revelation is the "in-between" you speak of.
