Unanswered Questions

It seems I am frozen in time
With memories of you
Of those years long ago
When your sweet love was true

 

I felt it with each tender touch
Whenever I looked into your eyes
I could see right inside your heart
That everything would be alright

 

Sometimes, when I am sitting here
I remember the laughter we shared
There was no doubt in my mind
How much you really had cared

 

Then, there came that time when
My world was turned upside down
The distance between us seemed to grow
You were very seldom ever around

 

Further and further apart we drifted
Oh how it hurt my heart deep inside
I stuffed the pain, the fear and the anger
As I wiped all the tears from my eyes

 

There are so many unanswered questions
Questions I will never have answers to
With each day that comes and goes
I come closer to getting over you
