Dance in Dreams

Dance in Dreams

A Poem by Andromeda
"

idk...NEW

"

She swung in the playground swing,

Which hurt her back—

Kicking her feet out

To reach the sun

Like her father had told her to.

And she wished that she could dance in dreams.

She stared up at the sun:

Stared so long and

So hard and—

Stared until it bleached her eyes and all the other kids at recess around her turned to pointillism: dots with a vague figure—

Dots that danced as she

Swirled around and around in her

            Hard, black, sun-burnt swing.

And she wished that she could dance

                       Like this

           In dreams.

But she had

            Two left feet

And her father hadn't taught her

How to

            Yet.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Swings rock. Love this. Reminds me of those moments of youth flying high on the playground swingset. Used to love getting as high as I could and jumping out. Great poem here.

it should be "like her father told her to" with a single 'o'.

you manage to create a scene, a story almost in your poems. and the formatting again. a reccurring theme, but not a bad thing - i like that. gives you a voice so to speak.

And she wished she could dance in dreams. very nice.
