Exchange of FatesA Poem by Andromeda...She sits at the window And she waits. She sits at the window And she waits, waits, waits For nothing more than a change of fates. The man across the street, she wants his heart: She wants to feel it beat within her In steady rhythm Unlike her own. The child next door, she wants his eyes: She wants to see in more than fuzzy lines. She’s sick of hiding behind thick, brown flames. The girl on the corner, This woman wants her future: She wants to go to college and Again. She wants, more than anything a hope of a future. She wants her breathing tube gone And her legs again to work- Her heart again to beat And her eyes again to see; Her future unwritten, unclear and free. She sits at the window and she waits For nothing more than an exchange of fates. © 2008 Andromeda |
