Ice Train

Ice Train

Ice train—

Ripped from a

            Shaking,

            Lively,

            Dancing

            Snowglobe:

One of those magical twists,

Earned as a White Elephant Gift

That you love for no other reason than

            The way the train

            Choo-Choo-Choos

Through the landscape of the deepest blue hues,

            Between the One-Inch-Tall Evergreens,

            Past the Whipped-Cream-Frosted Mountains,

Down the Path Cut Out For It

            Long ago

            On a personalized assembly line.

Ice train—

Ice train, trapped in its

Imperfect glass,

Eternally on route to                        The Paradise of Nowhere,

Locked inside a snow globe.

Ice train—

Ice train to you is Christmas

Just because of the way the little flakes of false snow

                                                Sing

As they bounce off the endlessly Choo-Choo-Chooing train windows,

Where someone always sits,

Train ticket in hand,

 And dreams of going home.
