Jelly Beans

Jelly Beans

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

She used to think of life as

Something along the lines of a

            Tootsie-Roll Pop:

Lick,

Lick,

Lick—

All the same,

Just waiting to get to the end,

When the flavor bursts together and blends with

Chewy texture and chocolate...

But...

Even then...

The chocolate is a little bit too bland and

She still finds herself

Chew,

Chew,

Chew-ing

Just to get to the end so she can

Throw away the sucker stick and

Brush her teeth

With cavity-preventing,

Mint-fresh

Toothpaste.

But recently,

She discovered something new,

Something extra-ordinary and

No-bite-the-same:

Jelly beans.

And she likes those a lot better.
