The Girl I Met One SummerA Poem by Andromedanot my best, just something i needed to write. The girl I met one summer Redefined beauty for me: Showed me Beauty Is Waking up a little too Late for your alarm clock’s comfort And looking in the mirror And laughing at How your hair could have possibly gotten this way. This I learned from the girl I met one summer— In late July: Beauty is laughing Until you need no blush on your cheeks and Crying until There is nothing left to hold inside— Leave nothing to hide, Nothing to dare you to hide. This I learned from the girl I met one summer— In my backyard, By my fence, Kicking a ball against the red brick wall of my house and listening to it smack, feeling the slight sharp pain of kicking your anger away. This I learned in a sudden realization— A sudden realization of the girl I met one summer: Beauty is Life And Life Is In The Application of Courage And the Embrace of Emotion.
