The AccidentA Poem by Andromedai saw one on the way home...miraculously, the driver lived, and my prayers are w/ himIt was the same road as always— The road with the trees that Watched like vultures. He’d driven it ten dozen times For three dozen years. It was the same road as always— But today it betrayed him, Cut his breath away in a Smoke-rolling, Metal-scraping Crash, Leaving his car as nothing but A crinkled up aluminum can On the same road he’d always Taken. As he lies in the stretcher, His eyes flittering Open and shut, His feet pointed towards the Sky, The trees standing like Vultures by, The people watching and Wondering how and why, The same road he’d always taken Utters an apologetic cry.
