Red Velvet

Red Velvet

A Poem by Andromeda
"

a war poem...the sky outside is a very strange color

"

The sky was a shade of dusty red as

The helicopter roared on by overhead.

The sky was a mist of velvet, like the

Color of a bloodbath’s warning,

Color of a death-crowned morning—

Red velvet like his mother’s drapes

Red velvet like the

Invisible blanket he pulled over his head,

But red velvet

Could not hide it—

The color of this sky

Was dead,

As

Another helicopter

Roared on by overhead.
