Memory-TheftA Poem by AndromedaAlhiezmersThe thunder came like God’s bowling pins Falling D O W N To make me think of you And your face of a clown, Clapping your hands and pretending you’d always be so free and never drown. The lightning came like Flashlight midnight dance Flicking U P Right and L E ft To make me think of you And how you swore you’d never left, Waking up from sleep and smiling, saying what a dream, what a memory-theft. Then the rain came To make me think Things wished to stay the same, Though you walk now with a pair of wheels, And I lie to say I can take how it feels, As I watch you drown into your mind— Preferring the life you had To the storm of memory-theft.
