Salutation to a PrayerA Poem by Andromedafor a Christian scholarship contestLike standing in the ocean, feeling the waves ripple and the wind dance in my hair. When You call me close, I can see that I live as salutation to a prayer. I can feel Your arms as a gentle frame; If I lean, There will be no shame For this soul that was once lame. And I can see that I live as salutation to a prayer: A soul that was once rotted, Was once downtrodden, now Not just painted-over, but re-forged and reset, Held together by Eternal Net. It’s in the way You heal my life-long Tear; In the way You let me know You are near: Like lying beneath the sky, painting the stars from life-long memory, Breathing out a surrender sigh and giving You the key: I can see that I live as salutation to a prayer .
